I have been vegan for over five months and vegetarian for 12 years before that, recently gluten free also and feel so much better! Here are my wishes:

*That people would stop treating vegans like some ditzy, tree hugging, hippie, glassy-eyed weirdos! Although most of those describe me-lol-I am also extremely empathetic, promoter of animal rights , a consumate researcher on anything that interests me, a loving mother, wife, friend, and protector of animals, people, our planet and environment.

*I echo the glass walled farms idea, until people really SEE the horrible things that happen to animals, they will continue to hide their heads in the sand and PRETEND that meat is just tidily packaged "food products" from the store.

*I wish that all adults and children would be shown documentary films at work, school, college, etc. about the meat industry and the lies fed to us by them. Our planets, peoples and all other living creatures health will continue to plummet until we truly push the envelope of just what is happening.

*Peace for ALL living beings- health, love, happiness, the touch of a gentle hand, the lack of all fear, pain and sadness.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3687612438544094145.post-49707050544143033022009-05-27T13:18:39.127-07:002009-05-27T13:18:39.127-07:00I wish that humans could see the link between how ...I wish that humans could see the link between how we treat our fellow animals (human and otherwise), how we treat our bodies, and how we treat our planet. All these things are linked. That when we treat one thing that requires attention and care (such as a cow, a tree, a woman, a child) as a commodity, then all things that can be cared for or attended to become objects to be controlled and mistreated. You pick your clothes up off the floor because taking care of that which we buy seems to be more important than taking care of fellow beings. That is my number one wish, and I think that could move the world to a more peaceable place if people could simply see the connections between the simplest of things.Sarahttp://innocentprimate.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3687612438544094145.post-87681186711088984102009-05-27T08:52:58.308-07:002009-05-27T08:52:58.308-07:00Hi! I particularly relate to the point about health professionals - I am too nervous to mention 'the V-word' to my doctor for fear of every last thing becoming a diet-related issue! Also the nutritional info at restaurants...I had an experience last weekend at a catered event where, when I asked the cook if a particular dish was vegan, I was met with a blank look, a shrug of the shoulders and the question: what's vegan mean??? Shouldn't people who cook for the public have some kind of responsibility to be up to speed with dietary issues - whether from an ethical or a medical standpoint.....

Anyways, very thoughtful points, as always - thanks Maria Rose!Amandahttp://cackleberry.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3687612438544094145.post-2706951792107968192009-05-27T08:33:03.773-07:002009-05-27T08:33:03.773-07:00I am with you on the fish and chicken thing. I can...I am with you on the fish and chicken thing. I can't tell you how many people say "I'm vegetarian I only eat fish and chicken." What?!

I wish more health professionals would speak out on the health benefits of a vegan diet.

I wish that people would start to connect the meat industry to the milk and dairy industry. They are inextricably linked.

I wish that there was better nutritional information available at restaurants.

I wish people would quit telling me that they wish they could go vegan. They can!

Oh, I could go on and on and on...Maria Rosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15582992268736301561noreply@blogger.com
